The man who puts the "bottom" in the Soul Cruisers sound, bass man Stan Tartas has been pursuing his art for over 25 years. His favorite bands, and earliest musical influences, are the hard-driving sounds of the Rolling Stones, The Who, Aerosmith, and Jimi Hendrix. In fact, it was Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix experience who first inspired Stan to become a bass player also. Stan has performed with many well-known New York rock bands, including Stryder.

Even his hobby revolves around his music: Stan collects bass guitars and rare rock concert video footage. A native of Staten Island, Stan currently resides in New Jersey.
